Spindle gouge 12 mm flat

Contiform gouges are suitable for spindle turnig. They can be used to make fillets, round bars and other profiles on muntins, vases, goblets, candlesticks and similar work. The Contiform gouges (also called Continental gouges) can also be used for roughing (round turning) scantlings. The cross-section of the gouges is the same as that of European roughing gouges, but smaller.

The indicated dimension of the gouge is the outer dimension.

Information about the dimensions:

The nominal dimension is the distance from one flank of the inside to the opposite outside of the gouge.

The inner dimension indicates the inner distance between the flanks of the gouge. The outer dimension indicates the outer width of the gouge or the outer diameter.

The cross-section of the flat spindle gouge is significantly flatter than the classic spindle gouge. This makes this spindle gouge particularly suitable for detail work and steep profiling.
