Axminster lathe chuck

The English manufacturer Axminster launched the first chuck for woodturners back in 1984. A wide range of top jaws in various shapes enable the safe and accurate fastening of wooden objects of any shape to the woodturning lathe. The range of woodturning chucks is continuously extended by new developments. Axminster chucks are still manufactured in the village of Axminster on state-of-the-art CNC machining centers.

Due to moisture in wood and workshops, chucks can corrode over time. For this reason, the body of the chucks is made entirely of stainless steel, which prevents the chuck from rusting.

Axminster chucks are manufactured to a very low tolerance so that both the jaws and the spindle thread fit perfectly. Other chucks on the market are often coated, which means the chuck is intentionally made undersized and then the coating process brings it to the proper tolerances; a process that is far less precise. The machining of the worm bearing and the cutting of the thread is done in one operation. As a result, concentricity is absolute.
