Low-viscosity wood oil that leaves no visible film on the surface.
Based on lemongrass oil, Chestnut Lemon Oil creates a matt, non-sticky surface on raw, untreated wood. It smells pleasantly of lemon, but this odour fades over time. Lemon oil is water-repellent and non-oxidising. This wood oil is also ideal for finishing the inside of drawers, boxes and cupboards. Lemon oil should only be used on untreated wood. All other surface treatments, including other oils, must be completely removed before use. Stains must be allowed to dry thoroughly. After preparing the wood to a silky smooth surface, apply the lemon oil generously with a brush or cloth. Leave it on for 15 minutes and then wipe off the excess with a dry, clean cloth. Leave to dry thoroughly for a further 24 hours. Further coats can be applied if required, allowing 24 hours between coats. Use a fine abrasive between coats to smooth the surface. For a glossier finish, wood wax can be applied over the oil. Brushes can be washed out with white spirit. Rags should be stored in a screw-top jar or laid flat to dry before disposal.
