A mandrel (also called a mandrel) is very useful for clamping pen blanks or similar workpieces in the lathe. The pin mandrel is provided with a MK1 or MK2 Morse taper mount. On the tailstock side, it is held with the centre point moving along with it. The workpiece is clamped with a brass knurled nut. With the help of cylindrical spacers, blanks of various lengths can be clamped. Further spacer rings are available.
The mandrel is adjustable in length and has a diameter of 6.2mm (mandrel diameter) and is therefore suitable for almost all commercially available pen kits.
The case set includes:
- Length-adjustable mandrel with MK1 or MK2 holder (please select)
- 3 parallel sleeves
- 4 conical sleeves
- Face milling cutter for the pin blanks
- 5 ballpoint pen kits with refill (see also these kits...)
- 3 drill bits with a diameter of 6.8 / 6.9 and 7mm
- Allen key and open-end wrench
Please note that you need a pierced spindle to take this mandrel so that you can knock out the Morse taper again.
When the length adjustment is used to the maximum, the distance between the knurled nut (without lock nut) and the Morse taper mounting body is approx. 170mm.
