steinert® picOval Oval Lathe Attachment

The connection from the lathe spindle to the oval work is made with a universal joint coupling.
The oval movement is suitable for oval shapes with a maximum axis difference of 80mm. It is permissible for a maximum mass of workpiece plus chuck of 5.0kg.
The maximum distance from the rotating base plate of the oval mechanism to the tool contact point is 180mm for workpieces clamped on one side. The clamping length between tips is unlimited.

Overall dimensions of the oval movement:

• Length including universal joint coupling 450mm
• Height 300mm plus adapter plate for adapting to the basic machine e.g. with a centre height of 250mm, this is an additional 100mm, so a total of 400mm
• The maximum workpiece dimension depends on the centre height of the basic machine. For example, a centre height of 250mm results in a maximum oval size (long axis) of 400mm
• In addition to the coupling on the drive side, the basic equipment of the oval movement includes an adapter with M 33 thread on the working side. This adapter can be exchanged for a faceplate, a two-jaw chuck or other drivers. A face driver and a moving centre point for working between centres are also available
• Weight with a centre height of 250mm: 40kg
• The gear of the oval mechanism halves the respective spindle speed

The basic machine should be a solid, heavy lathe with a centre height of at least 180mm. A grey cast iron bed is advantageous. The drive motor should not have an output of less than 1.1 kW and should be infinitely variable as possible. The standard spindle thread M 33 is advantageous, however, other thread types are possible.
The types "alpha", "beta" and "gamma" of the steinert® hand lathes are ideally suited.
