O’Donnell Dovetail Jaws

These Axminster SK88 O'Donnell dovetail jaws have an extended nose to allow better access to the turning project. These jaws offer three gripping options. The nose has external and internal dovetails, 50mm and 37mm respectively. In addition, the deep centre hole holds a 35 mm diameter peg, which provides a solid grip when turning goblets and similar objects. These diameters are measured with the jaws on a full circle. However, the chuck allows a wide range of movement to compensate for any deviation. The inner range is from 35 mm to 53 mm, the outer range from 45 mm to 66 mm and the tenon from 30 mm to 51 mm.

As the Essential SK88 chuck and jaws are made from EN1A steel and not stainless steel like our premium Clubman and Evolution chucks, we recommend spraying it lightly with a dry lubricant on a regular basis to prevent tarnishing. You should do this more often if you are working in a damp workshop or turning wet wood.
