To give your woodturning work the finest polish before applying the finish, we recommend Yorkshire Grit Sanding Paste.
This creamy abrasive paste is made from pharmaceutical grade ingredients. It contains mineral oils, beeswax and very fine abrasive powder. This abrasive powder is composed of pumice stone and very finely ground "rotten stone". The abrasive paste acts like liquid sandpaper. Yorkshire Grit Paste contains no solvent and is virtually odorless. When the paste is applied to your woodturning piece, the abrasive powder dissolves into finer grit. The cutting edge remains intact.
The grinding paste reduces the grinding marks from the previous dry sanding. To sand your woodturning with Yorkshire Grit, a previous sanding with a grit of 320-400 is sufficient for most woods. After sanding with Yorkshire Grit, the wood gets an appearance comparable to a 1000 grit.
Yorkshire Grit is applied directly on the lathe with e.g. a paper towel. Sanding is then carried out at approx. 500 rpm for approx. 1-2 minutes. Depending on the type of wood, a further application may be necessary. If the result of the fine sanding is satisfactory, remove all residues of the sanding paste with a fresh paper towel at a higher speed.
For perfect results - especially with epoxy resin - we recommend further treatment with Yorkshire Grit extra fine and subsequent polishing with a buffing wheel.
