Chestnut sanding wax ("Cut'n'Polish") is a mixture of two waxes containing a fine abrasive in suspension.
It is a soft wax designed to stay "wet" longer during application, allowing the abrasive to lubricate to produce a very fine cut on the wood, and also to collect the dust produced during application and subsequent sanding.
On raw wood: sand as usual with 240 grit, apply a coat of sanding wax with the lathe off, then turn the lathe on and buff the wood to a soft shine while smoothing it.
For sealed wood, apply in the same manner after sealing and polish to a slightly higher gloss.
Sanding Wax dries almost immediately and can be overcoated with Friction Polish or a wax to achieve a higher gloss.
