The composition of the polishing pastes is matched to the cloth used with the Chestnut buffing wheels and Chestnut buffing mops to give an exceptional polish and prepare the surface for a very smooth finish before using wax.
The polishing compound for buffing (brown) is used with the firm buffing wheel or mop to smooth the applied finish. If possible, avoid overloading the cloth to prevent the compound from accumulating. If this occurs, the compound can be removed either by washing in soapy water or by sanding the edge of the disc with a coarse abrasive.
Do not use on very open-grained, light-coloured wood, as the compound may settle into the grain and discolour the piece.
The polishing compound for cleaning (white) acts as a cleaning agent to remove all traces of the polishing compound on the surface and also contains a very fine abrasive that smooths the work and leaves a semi-gloss surface and an excellent base for the top coat of wax. Use the soft buffing wheel or soft mop for this.
Use the polishing compound sparingly for cleaning, too much on the disc will result in streaks on the surface of your piece which can be removed by polishing, but this is very time consuming.
Each polishing paste weighs about 110g and measures 85 x 30 x 25mm.
